Astronomy



Description: This course will focus on learning and teaching Astronomy.  This week long course will include inquiry style learning with methods to reach and engage students in the study of Astronomy.  Fabulous evening viewing opportunities occur each evening of the course.  This is a field experience with night time viewing.  You will be able to use a telescope to find objects in the sky during this workshop.  Capitol reef is a gorgeous night sky and the UVU field station is amazing.  This USTA Astronomy workshop is much more than a paper pencil class and USTA looks forward to hosting you for the week or even just one night.

IMPORTANT COURSE INFORMATION:
  • 3 semester hours UVU or BYU Credit is included.
  • Overnight Accommodations and Meals will be provided for all participants.
  • You will need to arrive at Capitol Reef UVU Field Station on Sunday Evening June 10th and the course will end by noon of June 14 at noon.

Registration Costs are to cover the course instructor, meeting location(s), supplies, college credit recording fee, overnight accommodations and meals (Breakfast, lunch and dinner during stay).  NOTE: If you are not a current member of UtSTA you can renew your membership or join the Utah Science Teachers Association today ($10-15/year) and save $250 on your registration costs.  To join today, CLICK HERE.

By registering and paying, you agree that if you are not able to attend you will cancel at least 4 weeks before the class starts or your registration fees will be forfeited.
